"Was it not made clear? Your princess does not wish to be disturbed."
Pr- Celestia."
"Twilight?"
The mare in question lifted her head. Behind a tangled pink mane that had once held colorful life in an ever flowing ethereal wind, eyes turned, red rimmed and swollen towards the one that had spoken her name. Twilight cringed at the sight of the depressed mare. Her mentor, her… Equestria's princess...
Had rejection really done this?
"Celestia I-"
"Forgive me, Twilight Sparkle." The god pony cut her off in a hushed whisper. Tears began to well again and Celestia shut her eyes tightly in an effort to force them back "To abuse my status in such a way… To hurt and frighten you when all I wanted was to love-"
"No." The little unicorn took a step forward and the Pegicorn met her eyes again.
"You..won't forgive me?"
" Not unless you forgive me first. I hurt you without meaning to. You came to me seeking something i'd never in my wildest dreams considered. Something I've never had experience with." Taking another step forward, the little unicorn was nearly standing in the middle of the vast throne room with Celestia staring down upon her.
" I love my books, my friends, my mother…I love you." She blushed as she admitted it and the Princess looked at her with hope filled eyes.
"But I don't know what kind of love I have for you." Twilight rushed on. "With Fluttershy's help I've come to realize that not all love is the same. The love I have for my friends isn't the same love I have for my books. And the love I feel for my mother doesn't fill me with the same …" She blushed again and seemed to shrink in on herself as she stared down at her hooves, trying to find the right word. Hearing a rustle of wings a moment later she looked up. Celestia was arching across the room to land before her with less grace than she had ever seen the princess exude.
"I would…" Celestia's tone was nearly as timid as the element of kindness when she spoke next, stuttering over her words as though she were afraid to speak them " I would like to help you know… Allow me to… court you, Twilight Sparkle. T-to woo you in an effort to gain your love in the way I, myself, feel it.
Twilight stared up at the towering mare who gazed back, weak with longing and a fear of further heartache. "Okay…"
Fresh tears fell down the sun regents cheeks as she savored that one little word. She sagged somewhat, but her mane rolled with a burgeoning life. "Thank you…"
